THE ORIENTAL MISSIONARY STANDARD

EXTRACTS FROM BROTHER WILLIS' LETTERS

Late letters from Brother Willis have brought us good news of the very successful missionary campaign which he is carrying on in the north of Ireland. He writes as follows:

"I go to Omagh next week, not having had time to do so yet, but I expect to make the O.M.S. as well known around there as it has become known around Ballymena and Bangor. On Sunday, May 2nd, I am due in Dublin and again on the 16th, and these visits will also be sure to lead to many open doors. As yet I have not had time to go to Londonderry, Coleraine, Portadown and many other places because I have been so busy. But there are invitations awaiting me and I feel that it really would be the very best thing for me to stay here over next winter and enter all these open doors.

"People are getting to know that the O.M.S. does nothing but give the gospel to the heathen. Nearly every place I have gone someone has said to me, "I have been looking for just that kind of a society." Last week I had a missionary meeting at a Baptist church in Bangor and a gentleman said to me afterwards, "I have often asked myself if there wasn't just that kind of a society working somewhere in the foreign field." He is going to arrange another meeting for me in another large church in Bangor. In Tullygarley last week another gentleman said, "Will you come to Rashharkin? We have collected some money for foreign missions but don't know who to give it to." I arranged to go from May 7th to 10th.

"I am giving away hundreds of STANDARDS but must have more. On Saturday week I am booked for the big Faith Mission Conference in Belfast. I am having grand meetings almost everywhere with many souls at the altar and I am, all the time meeting the most spiritual people and gaming their interest in the O.M.S. This is bound to yield good fruit in after days. At Oldstone just outside of Antrim the week before Easter, we had fifty souls at the altar in four meetings. Everywhere in the north of Ireland souls are hungry for holiness.

I have been praying for a long time about having a tent for a month in June or July. It is just wonderful how doors open for me here in Ireland and I am doing my best to find someone in every place to whom to send bundles of STANDARDS and act as box secretary.

I find many people in Ireland, good Godly people, who are withdrawing their support from societies which they have supported for years because they have found out that in some degree they are tainted by Modernism. These people are looking for just such a work as ours and will doubtless become permanent helpers in the great work.

I had a grand time in Bessbrook lately. The folks are delighted in the preaching of the truth of holiness and many souls were definitely blessed. The missionary meeting there was a wonderful meeting. God graciously helped me to plead the cause of the millions in the Orient. Many people were deeply moved and wept. They said, many of them, that they had never before realized the desperate, awful need of the heathen and seen their own responsibility so clearly. May the Holy Ghost keep the vision burning before their eyes! O, if God's people could only see!

Pray for me that the Holy Ghost will so enable me to present the need that hundreds of Godly people in this land will really get the vision and the burden and come to our help liberally in the great work of reaching the millions of the Orient.
