Thomas in 1881 - notice the mis-spelling - it took me ages to track him down! His mother was Adelaide Gwenllian, I think she was no longer alive by this date

William GWENLAU is a mis-reading of William GWENLAN. He is registered in Sep 1867, Crickhowell, 11b 141. He married Jennet Williams in 1895 at Brecknock. Their son, Edward lost his life at the Somme in 1915, aged 19. They were in Wareham for a while - why? I think because of the China Clay industry. They were back in Abergavenny in 1915 - their house is pictured here
Interestingly, listed "next door" to this family on the census, is a branch of the BRUTE family - 72 yr old William was lodging with them as noted below. This William here was his Grandson.

Here is William (from the 1851 census), Margaret's husband, John's father, now a lodger, but still in Llanbedr. It's interesting to see his old welsh spelling of his birthplace - Llantilio Pertholey. See above for notes on the BRUTE family
On the next page are entires from the 1881 census relating to the other branches of my family...
